Randall Joseph Fastner
January 3, 1953 – June 21, 2019
Randall Joseph Fastner took his place by the Lord’s side at age 66 on June 21st, 2019. With many friends and family members visiting him daily, Randy passed away at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, KS. Randy was born January 3rd, 1953 in Kansas City, MO and resided in Kansas for the majority of his life, most recently in Lenexa. Randy was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Doris (Lumsden) Fastner. He is survived by his wife Deborah (Foster) Fastner, his two children Jennifer Weber and Jacob Fastner, his two grandchildren Brennan Faust and Victoria Weber, and his brother Rob Fastner. Not long after graduating from Shawnee Mission Northwest in 1971, Randy married his high school sweetheart, Debby, on July 7th, 1972. A few years later, he graduated from Johnson County Community College with an Associate of Arts degree in Mechanical Drafting in May, 1978. Randy worked as a drafter for the rest of his life and spent the last 23 years as a CAD (computer aided drafting) designer at Honeywell in Kansas City, MO. In his free time, Randy enjoyed riding motorcycles (primarily dirt bikes), playing golf, and spending time with his family and friends. In his younger years, Randy spent most of his free time with his wife, going on camping trips to Colorado with her, riding dirt bikes with his friends, and eventually, playing catch or kicking a soccer ball around with his son or helping his daughter with gymnastics or dance practice. As he got older, Randy spent more time on the golf course and continued to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Randy enjoyed playing catch with his grandson when he was young and worked on cars together as he got older. He also liked doing sidewalk chalk with his granddaughter, kicking a ball around, blowing bubbles, and helping her learn how to ride a bike. Many evenings after work, Randy could be seen playing with and walking alongside his grandchildren on the sidewalk. For the last few years, Randy really enjoyed spending time with his wife, being a part of their small group Bible-study through Christ Lutheran.
